We got off in the morning again before Jackson had to go back to work. We wandered around and spent 2 hours hunting for Kennedy keepsakes with the coat of arms on it. We found lots of places with magnets, coasters, keychains, etc. But a lot of places were sold out of Kennedy. I did eventually find and decided on a pin for my camera bag. During our exploring we found lots of references to the titanic.

It is also the castle from which Michael Collins left on the day of his assassination by anti-treaty IRA forces. On the way I photographed a Celtic cross marking one of the famine graveyards. In the morning we visited Blarney Castle.

The Queen was not amused. Before supper guide Jack led us on a walking tour of Waterford. Very nice and comfortable house where you have every of accommodation you need. Grateful host. The personal touches were so appreciated. It was so quaint and beautiful! So having never traveled solo before, and being a big enthusiast on the history of the Titanic, I wanted to stay in Cobh but fancied some self-catered accommodation.

I chose Rahilly Street Townhouse and I was not disappointed. The location is ideal! You walk out the front door, turn left and everything is within sight and walking distance. St Colman's Cathedral is behind you and the bells chiming really adds to the charm of Cobh. The bed was comfy, the room size was perfect, lots of wardrobe space and a hair dryer, which is nice if you're travelling hand luggage and want to save space.

The bathroom was clean, modern, fresh and wonderful. You look out the window, and there's the cathedral. Whether you order in or cook for yourself, is up to you but if you're there for less than a week, there are plenty of places to eat out every day. In the manual, Gilbert's Bistro comes recommended, and I second this notion. I wish I could've stayed longer, but I have sworn to return to this townhouse. It was great for a solo traveler, and it'll even make perfect for a couple travelling. There are 10 hotels in Cobh listed on Booking.

We've sent you an email so you can complete your subscription. Cobh does a great job of showcasing its history and its Titanic connections. The museum at the train station provides a great overview as well as far more information than I'd expected! The Titanic experience and cathedral are also worth visiting.
